Taiwanese bassoonist Chia-Yu Hsu is currently serving as principal bassoon at the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra.She was an invited lecturer in July 2021 International Double Reed Society symposium.Chia-Yu was a bassoon member at the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, where they worked with Riccardo Muti, Ken-David Masur, and Yo-Yo Ma during 2019-2020. During the time she was working in the Civic Orchestra, she also substituted with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida. Chia-Yu is also an experienced soloist and was selected by Zubin Mehta to perform Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto, KV191 in Charles Bronfman Auditorium in Tel Aviv under his baton in 2015.earned a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in bassoon performance at University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019. Aside from being a bassoonist, Chia-Yu teaches bassoon and piano in middle schools. She also works as a piano accompanist in Taipei and Taoyuan area for students’ annual national competition and entrance exams for high schools and universities.
