Terry B. Ewell. 2018 Sep. 29. For much of the overture make ample use of overblown E3, Eb3, and F3 fingerings without the whisper key fingerings for E4, Eb4, and F4. For instance, these are representative passages:
Measures 4-6:
D#4: |
E4: |
Measures 13-15:
F4: |
D#4: |
There is a very unique solution to the B3, C#4, and E#4 (F4) pattern in measures 118-120. The B hole needs to be covered with the second finger in the right hand, a finger that normaly covers the A hole. This leaves the right hand first finger free to depress the C# trill key in this sequence:
B3: |
C#4: |
E#4/F4: |
Optional: add the left hand little finger Eb resonance key to all of the fingerings above.
