BIOGRAPHY OF ALIREZA MOTEVASELI (COMPOSER AND BASSOONIST)

Alireza Motevaseli Born 9th Feb 1992 in Tehran, Iran.

Mr. Motevaseli started to study music by playing bassoon in 2003 at the Television and Radio of Islamic Republic of Iran Music School. He studied classical music with famous music masters who are both composers and performers: Hossein Dehlavi, Mostafa Kamal Poutorab, Dr. Loris Hovian, Dr. Amirmahyar Tafreshipour, Masoud Ebrahimi, Esmaeil Tehrani, Nader Mashayekhi, Dr. Mohamadreza Tafazzoli, Gholamhassan Majlesi, Taghi Zarrabi, Alireza Sheibani, (Dr. Terry B. Ewell, U.S.A., online videos), Reza Mortazavi, Aidin Samimi Mofakham, Kave Jodat, Hadi Arazm, Mohamad Mirzamani, Abdolnaghi Afsharnia, Mohsen Nafar, and Majid Karbakhsh zade. After graduating from music school he had successful collaborations with the best known orchestras located in Iran: Tehran Symphony Orchestra, Iran National Orchestra, Television and Radio of Islamic Republic of Iran Symphony Orchestra, Tehran Municipal Orchestra, Iran Choir and Orchestra, Parsian Orchestra, and many others.

Activities as a Bassoonist

Mr. Motevaseli has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles in Iran: the Tehran Symphonic Orchestra led by Alexander Rahbari, Alexander Rudin, Mark Stivenson, Nasir Heidarian, Shahdad Rouhani, Nader Mashayekhi, Nader MortezaPour, Orwell Erdinç ,and Sohrab Kashef; Mediant Trio led by Alvin Avanessian; the TV and Radio Islamic Republic of Iran Symphony Orchestra, led by the late Muhammad Beiglari Pour; Parsian Orchestra led by Aydin Ahmadinejad; Tehran Chamber Orchestra led by Nader Mashayekhi; Municipality Philharmonic Orchestra led by Mohammad Hossein Hamidi; and Rudaki Symphony Orchestra led by (Nader Abbassi _Arash Amini). In addition, he has performed with Pars Orchestra led by Naser Nazar, the Isfahan National Orchestra led by Morteza Shafiee, the orchestra led by Mehrdad Farid Mohajer, Orff Orchestra, led by Massoud Nazar, Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus performances with Iran Alireza Shafaghi Nezhad, University Symphony Orchestra TV and Radio Iran, Avasa Orchestra led by Loris Hovian, and Iranian Cultural Society Orchestra – Austria OKF.

Activities as a Composer

Mr. Motevasil has received international recognition as a composer. In January 2016, Fantasia for Santoor, Accordion, and Orchestra was an award winner in the Celebrate Asia Composition Competition. The composition was performed by Seattle Symphony in the same month. At the 28th Fadjr International Music festival he received first prize of the Subjective Music Composition. From 2009-2012 he composed music for some short films & short animations. In addition, Souchu University has performed some compositions selected by jury in Asia 2015 (Sextet for Woodwinds, Glockenspiel, and Vibraphone).
